I’m a proud product of the Newton Public Schools: Cabot Elementary, FA Day Middle School, Bigelow Middle School (the year it reopened), and Newton North High School, where I was elected Senior Class President. I believe public school is about more than academics. It’s a place to grow and develop among peers from every corner of our city—a foundation of community and shared experience that makes Newton a special place to live.
My journey through NPS shaped who I am today. I am eager to give back to the community that has given me so much, then and now.
Speaking at my NNHS graduation
I was diagnosed with Dyslexia in first grade. NPS provided me with the special education support necessary for me to learn to read. I also benefited from engaged parents who made sure standards were never lowered for me, but rather, I was held to the same high standards as all of my peers. It is vitally important that all children are made to feel, from every professional in our school system that they matter and that they can succeed.
That mix of challenge and support, and belief in each child’s ability to advance, in a school system where parents are engaged and part of the learning journey is critical to making public school work. It was critical in my success in NPS and beyond - at college and in my professional career.
The in-class learning time lost to COVID, as well as the teacher strike in early 2024 were deeply detrimental to our students and our families. Research is clear that earning loss for lower income and special needs students was deeper still and the solution is more time with educators, not less. It is our responsibility as adults to make sure such a disruption in learning and mental health support never happens again. Our public education system exists to prepare the next generation with the education and social skills they need to meet the challenges ahead. We have a responsibility to make sure educators have the resources they need to do their best work in support of that mission.
Adam, Me, Janna and Perry
Professionally, I serve as Chief Digital and Technology Officer at US LBM, a national building materials distributor. Prior to that, I held leadership roles at Wayfair and Bain Capital Partners.
I have spent my career helping companies build a vision for the future and chart a course to get there. I am experienced at navigating the big and small, easy and hard decisions needed to achieve a vision. I believe these skills will be helpful for NPS as we transition to a new school committee, a new mayor and a new teacher’s contract (this school committee will handle the next contract negotiation).
We have a unique moment-in-time opportunity for the City of Newton to put the conflicts and disagreements of COVID and the emotions and frustrations of the strike behind us while setting a course for the exceptional school system we want for our families. I’m excited to partner with Dr. Nolin, our Superintendent, and a new mayor to do just that.
I grew up in Newton Corner, where my parents still live, and moved back in 2017 with my wife Janna, our son Adam—now a 3rd grader at Bowen—and our dog Perry and cat Candace. I coach Adam’s Newton Youth Soccer team, love to cook, and have been a lifelong cyclist.
I graduated from Colby College with a degree in Economics and a concentration in Finance, and spent a year studying at the London School of Economics.

I’m running for School Committee to help ensure that every child in Newton gets the support, challenge, and community I was lucky to receive—and that our schools remain a reason families choose to live and stay in the city.
